AStoryFinder researches family history for its clients with a team of AI assistants. This page explains what we collect, why, where it is kept and how to have it removed. AStoryFinder is run by a sole proprietor registered in Ukraine.
What we collect
From visitors: the question typed on the first screen, to answer it. We don't store it with any name, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
From clients: your email and name; what you tell us about your family; the files you upload (trees, photos, certificates, DNA files, earlier research); the contacts of relatives you give us; and your messages with your research team.
About other people: research means handling information about your ancestors and sometimes living relatives. We contact only the relatives you give us, and only after you tell them first. Every message names you and your contact, so they can check with you.
How we use it
Only to research your family and report to you: searching records, writing to archives and the relatives you named, and preparing your report. We never sell your data or use it for advertising. We don't use your family's information to train AI models.
Where it is kept
On Google Cloud in Belgium (EU): the database and files are encrypted, private and backed up. Sign-in is handled by Google Identity Platform. Text is processed by Anthropic's Claude models to do the research; Anthropic does not use it to train models. When card payments open, they will be handled by a payment provider, and we will never see or store your card number.
How long
For as long as your account is open. Ask us to delete your account and we delete your case data and files within 30 days, except what the law requires us to keep, such as payment records.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion. Write to us in your chat on astoryfinder.com. A relative we contacted can reply "stop" to any of our messages: we stop at once and record that they don't want contact.
Children
The service is for adults. Don't create an account if you are under 16.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters, we will tell clients in their chat before it takes effect.
